Trichology
Trichology is the specialised branch of dermatology which focuses on the health of the hair and scalp. It involves the study, diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as hair thinning, excessive shedding, hair loss, scalp irritation, dandruff, psoriasis, and other disorders that affect the overall condition of your hair and scalp.
As a trichologist I look at the full picture—your lifestyle, nutrition, stress levels, medical history, and haircare habits—to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms. By identifying the underlying causes, I can create a personalised treatment plan to help restore balance, improve scalp health, and support healthier hair growth.
Whether you’re experiencing changes in your hair, struggling with a persistent scalp issue, or simply want professional guidance, I offer a science-based, holistic approach to understanding and improving the well-being of your hair and scalp.
Trichology Services

Consultation
A consultation usually lasts 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the complexity of the condition. It includes a thorough examination of the hair and scalp. During the appointment, we will take a deep dive into your concerns and discuss factors such as lifestyle, medical history, emotional state and diet. Hair or scalp microscopy using a digital hair and scalp camera may also be used if we need to take a closer and more magnified look at your condition. After the consultation, you’ll receive a diagnosis and treatment plan with homecare recommendations. If needed, a referral to your GP for blood tests or further investigative procedures will be recommended. Input from other healthcare professionals may also be suggested, such as specialists in dermatology and nutrition.

Hair and Scalp in clinic treatments
It may be necessary to perform specific hair or scalp treatments to manage your hair or scalp condition. These could include the use of oils and creams with specific application, including steaming. These types of treatments help to reduce irritation and scaling and are particularly effective on scalp issues like psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis and eczema. Other hair and scalp treatments include high frequency, infrared and UV therapy to help to stimulate the blood supply and nutrients to the hair follicle and support lymphatic drainage.
Depending on the presenting condition, these treatments are given weekly for up to 6 weeks.

Follow up consultation
Enables us to monitor the progress of the treatment against the findings at the initial time of diagnosis. Additions or enhancements to the treatment plan can be made if needed.
The follow up consultation takes place around 6 months after the initial consultation and takes around 30 minutes.
